It’s been a while since I posted something to this blog of mine. In the time since my previous post, I haven’t had very much time to write or work. Slowly, I’m immersing myself back into a schedule of healthy freelancing and writing on my own projects. I want to take a moment to share with you my two newest stories. They are flash fiction written for the Twitter #FridayFlash group.
Cubicles and Brimstone
“My greatest weakness? Uh, I’ve been known to be quite stubborn, to the point of clashing with upper management.”
“Oh?” Mr. Moulton asked. He slipped a pair of reading glasses from his jacket pocket and leaned the spectacles carefully against his nose, so he could look over the simple one-page resume.

Spasms
The ring finger on Isaac’s left hand twitched for the third time in a day which concerned him greatly. He stared down at his hand and watched the finger for a short period. No spasm ran through his hand while he was watching, but he was sure that the tiny hairs right above his second knuckle were brimming with excitement. He squeezed his eyes shut, wrote the movements off as his imagination, and returned to his work.

Over the coming weeks, I plan to retool this blog and bring the primary focus to my fiction.

I regularly exercise my creative muscles with short flash fiction written specifically for the #fridayflash Twitter group. Here are the last three stories written, from my flash fiction blog, Telling Creative Lies.

Twitter is a great place to connect and interact with a fantastic community of writers. You have the #fridayflash crowd, the #tuesdayserial Tweeps and the #amwriting hashtag to name a few. All of these talented writers produce great work, maintain interesting blogs and actively engage in writing communities across the web. With so many writers on Twitter, there’s a wealth of information, news and encouragement, all in bite-sized nuggets of 140 characters or less. I recently asked Twitter writers to share their Twitter sized writing advice with me, and now I’m going to pass it on to you.

The Twitter #fridayflash group allows you to post links to your flash fiction and add those flash fiction pieces to J.M. Strother’s collector to be included in his weekly Friday flash reports. Not only do you get great feedback on your stories every week, the group encourages constant inspiration and allows you to discover great flash from other talented writers.

It’s award season here at Totenfolio and Telling Creative Lies, obviously. A little over a week ago, I was awarded two lovely awards – the One Lovely Blog award, and the Versatile Blogger award – by Aidan Fritz. Then, I was given the Fabulous Flash Award over here, which I only learned about through a Google search result alert on my name (yeah, I know, I’m pretty vain and want to know where my name pops up online).
A few days later, I received the One Lovely Blog award and the Versatile Blogger award again, this time from Travis King. Travis King is a writer that I enjoy reading and hold a large deal of respect for because of his support of copyright reform through the release of most of his short stories under a creative commons license.

Three new #fridayflash stories
Once again, I have three new short stories written for the #fridayflash Twitter group to share with you. I like to share these stories here as well as my official #fridayflash blog, Telling Creative Lies, just in case you don’t follow the #fridayflash hashtag on Twitter. If you’re a writer, I would urge you to participate in the community, as it’s a great way to discover other talented writers and to share your work with readers who otherwise may never find your writing.

Over the past several weeks, I have participated in Twitter’s #fridayflash group started by J.M. Strother. Through the stories I write for that, I’ve “met” a number of talented writers. One of those talented writers, Aidan Fritz, recently passed two blog awards to me. Aidan says in the award post that he does not follow rules very well, which is great, because neither do I. So, in my own way, I am accepting the two awards he gave me, and passing them on – while intentionally breaking and bending the rules.

Three more short stories
Three weeks ago, I shared three short stories I wrote for the #fridayflash Twitter group. The #fridayflash Twitter group encourages creativity by giving you a platform to reach readers every week. In addition to receiving feedback from other followers of the #fridayflash hashtag, you also get to read some fantastic work by other talented writers.

For the past three weeks, I’ve been participating in the FridayFlash group over on Twitter. The whole concept is run by J.M. Strother and is a great way to get readers for your work. I’ve noticed a large spike in traffic to all of my websites which, of course, means more readers. In order to better manage my traffic and keep my FridayFlash fiction separate from the rest of my writing, I set up a blog at Posterous (highly recommended, if you need a quick blogging platform that’s easy to set up).
