A few weeks ago, I started saving all of my blog’s comment spam and putting all of the spam comments together. Rather than just deleting everything as I usually do, I’ve been reading each and every message and surprisingly, I’ve been amused.

As you can see by the screenshot above, I’ve got 110 spam comments sitting in my Akismet filter right now (I love Akismet, by the way). Each comment is a lovely beast all its own.
Some of these comments are telling jokes, accusing me of deleting previous comments, telling me how much my blog rules, telling me how much my blog sucks, stroking my ego and threatening me with bodily harm. These comments serve no purpose but to place a link in the hopes that Google or some other search engine will give their site a better rank for having more links to it from outside sources.

I’m going to turn this useless effort into a story when I have enough time to sift through the words and form a coherent story out of the words used in this comment spam. I have my mark, 200 spam comments, and am going to use every single word in the story.
I wanted to update the progress on this project, as since I’ve announced it, I have gone through a move, increased my workload, joined a few more side projects and stretched myself thinner than a model on a liquid diet.
In a week (possibly more), I will make a post with a list of the words to be used in the story. I will then create the story and finally put all that comment spam to work.
A month into the new year already?
